History

POOJAS

The temple is situated at Akathethara near N.S.S Engineering College, 2.5Km from Palakkad Junction Railway Station. Devotees can also reach this temple from the Akathethara Panchayath office bus stop in the Olavakkod - Malampuzha Route.
Important Offerings
Enna(Oil), Neivilakku, Venna(Butter), Karpooram(Camphor) and Sambrani(Incense sticks) for use inside the temple can be purchased from the Devaswom counter. For all offerings receipt should be obtained from the Dewaswom counter and given to the main priest(Melsanthi) or his subsidiaries as appropriate.

Offerings such as Archana(including Vidya Gopala Manthram, Swayamvara Sooktham etc), Mala, Vahana Pooja, Neivilakku, Vennanivedyam, Thulasimala, Avil, Nagapooja, Palpayasam and Malayidal/Kettuniraa for sabarimala don't normally require any advanced booking.

Offerings which require advanced booking
For Divasa Pooja, Ganapathy Homam and Bhagavath Seva advance booking is essential. This is necessary because early preparation by the Dewaswam authorities, Poojari and Subsidiaries is essential for all these offerings even when the devotees bring their own supplies. Of course the cost may vary depending on what and how much the devotee brings.

In this respect devotees are requested to co-operate fully and whole-heartedly with the temple authorities in every way possible. Such co-operation is essential for the solemn perfomance of the offering and also for the smooth function of the day-to-day affairs at the temple. All bookings are done on the irrefutable "First come First served" principle.
